Flooring & Tiling
Floors and tiled surfaces laid properly, with the substrate prepared first. That is the part nobody sees, and the reason a floor either lasts or lifts.
About this work
A floor fails from underneath. Tiles crack because the substrate moves, laminate lifts because moisture was there before the boards were, grout fails along a line where the surface was never flat. Almost every flooring problem we are called to look at started below the surface, which is why preparing the substrate is the part of this work that determines the outcome.
It is also the part that is quickest to skip, because nobody can see it once the floor is down. A floor laid straight onto an unprepared base can look excellent on the day and start failing within a year, and by then the only fix is to take it up again.
We lay floor and wall tiling, timber and laminate flooring, and the tiling that bathrooms and kitchens depend on, where the tiling and the waterproofing behind it are really one job. Outdoors, we take on paving and hard surfaces: rotten garden decking replaced with composite in Walthamstow, and concrete resurfacing in Enfield.
Outdoor surfaces bring their own constraint, which is drainage and fall. A patio or a deck that holds water is a maintenance problem for as long as it exists, so where the water goes has to be settled before anything is laid.
Our workmanship carries a 12-month guarantee, set out in our terms, and ATEN11 holds public liability insurance.

Common questions
Do you prepare the floor before laying it?
Always. The substrate is what decides whether a floor lasts or lifts, and it is the one part that cannot be corrected afterwards without taking the floor up.
Do you lay outdoor surfaces as well as indoor floors?
Yes. Paving, hard surfaces and composite decking included. We have replaced rotten decking with composite in Walthamstow and resurfaced concrete in Enfield.
Can you tile a bathroom or kitchen?
Yes, including the waterproofing behind it, which on a wet-area wall is really part of the same job as the tiling.
What if my existing floor is failing?
Send photos and we will tell you what is likely causing it. Lifting and cracking usually point to something underneath rather than to the surface itself.
